Below are the four agents of erosion, so take what you need:

  • Fluvial erosion - rivers mainly. Rivers erode by hydraulic action, abrasion, attrition and solution. Deposition occurs because the river has run out of energy, or energy is low.
  • Marine erosion - oceans and seas. These erode by hydraulic action and abrasion mainly, as the ocean has great sheer force. They do not transport much material, as most of the work is done by gravity, so most material is left directly under where it came from, but separate nonetheless.
  • Glacial erosion - glaciers. Glaciers erode by plucking and abrasion, then deposit the moraine (glacial load) at the snout
  • Aeolian erosion - wind. Wind erodes mainly by blasting sediment at rocks, which is classic abrasion. Sediment is often deposited as a dune.

All agents of erosion cause both erosion and deposition as ultimately all eroded material is deposited.

  1. Running water: Moving water from rivers, streams, and rain can erode soil and transport sediments to deposit in new locations.
  2. Wind: Wind can transport particles and erode surfaces in arid and windy environments, leaving deposited sediments in new areas.
  3. Glaciers: Ice can erode rocks and transport sediments as glaciers move, depositing rocks and debris as they melt.

What three things that cause both erosion and deposition?

Water, wind, and ice can cause both erosion by carrying sediment away and deposition by depositing sediment in new locations.

What three things that cause both an erosion and deposition?

Rain, wind, weather(tornadoes, hurricanes, glacier activity).

What three factors affect how much energy a river has to cause weathering erosion and deposition?

The steepness of the river's slope, the volume of water flowing in the river, and the type of rock or sediment being eroded are the three main factors that affect how much energy a river has to cause weathering, erosion, and deposition. The faster the flow, the more erosive the river can be.

What changes take place in a river during the three stages of its course?

Erosion, Transportation, Deposition

What are the 3 main things that cause Erosion?

The three main things that cause erosion are water, wind, and ice. Water erosion occurs from rivers, rainfall, and waves, while wind erosion happens when wind displaces soil and sediment. Ice erosion occurs through processes like glaciers moving over land.

What three processes make sediments?

Weathering, erosion, and deposition are the three processes that contribute to the formation of sediments. Weathering breaks down rocks into smaller pieces, erosion transports the sediments to new locations, and deposition is the settling of these sediments in new areas.

What are 3 main types of work a river carries out along its valley?

the work of rivers can be seen in three ways namely 1. transportation of materials from uplands to lowlands 2. erosion by rivers and the resultant features 3. deposition by rivers and its effects

How do three processes act together to wear down and build up surface?

Weathering, Erosion, and lastly Deposition!!!!! :)

What are some similarities between erosion and weathering?

they both have to do with sediments

How does erosion have anything to do with the rock cycle?

Erosion transports weathered material from all three rock types in the rock cycle to a point of deposition where it can lithify into sedimentary rock.
