No its the amount of moisture in the air. In effect humidity means it will be hotter with summer type temperatures (because its harder for the sweat galnds to cool yourself because of the film of moisture from humidity) and in winter humidity makes it colder (for same reason, but different effect - its a cold layer sitting on your skin and you feel 'damp'

Alabama has a humid subtropical climate, which means it has high humidity levels, especially during the summer months. While temperatures can get quite hot, the humidity can make it feel even hotter and more uncomfortable.

What is the Apparent Temperature when the Air Temperature is 80 F and the Relative Humidity is 30 percent?

The Apparent Temperature, also known as the Heat Index, is a measure of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature. To calculate the Heat Index, you can use an online calculator or a chart. At an air temperature of 80°F and a relative humidity of 30%, the Apparent Temperature (Heat Index) would be around 80°F.

Is high humidity dangerous to humans?

High humidity can be uncomfortable for humans, as it interferes with the body's ability to cool itself through sweating. In extreme cases, prolonged exposure to high humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. It is important to stay hydrated and seek air-conditioned environments in very humid conditions.

Why don't the weather reports include the temperature humidity index during the winter months?

The temperature humidity index, also known as the heat index, is a measure of how hot it feels when relative humidity is added to the actual air temperature. It is typically used during warmer months when heat and humidity are more significant factors. In colder winter months, factors like wind chill are more relevant to how cold it feels, so this information is typically included instead of the heat index.

What is the heat index?

The heat index, also known as the "apparent temperature," is a measure of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature. It helps to quantify the discomfort caused by the combined effects of heat and humidity on the human body.
