Fossil fuels are a finite resource. They are produced over a very long time (millions of years) and the rate of creation is far below the current rate of consumption. There is the opportunity to exploit some oil reserves which haven't been tapped previously due to costs or technical constraints - but these would provide only a relatively short extension to the life of fossil fuels.
So, to make fossil fuels last as long as possible we would need to develop better methods to extract it from the ground and new technologies to extract deposits such as the oily sand deposits in Canada. Obviously if we reduce the rate of consumption then fossil fuels will last longer. Lets say there are 20 billion barrels of oil left... if we currently consume 10 billion barrels of oil per year this would mean there's only two years supply left. If we reduce our consumption to 2 billion barrels of oil per year that would provide ten years supply.
All that said, the burning of fossil fuels produces a large amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide) which acts as a greenhouse gas, causing significant global warming and climate change. These concerns are bigger than simply making fossil fuels last longer. If we continue to burn fossil fuels at the current rate the environment will continue to suffer. Its generally accepted the level of damage inflicted is already sufficient to mean significant problems for humans.
Development of alternative, safe, clean and sustainable energy (even if it costs slightly more) is the current aim. Google for alternative energy sources for lots of examples from Biofuels (crops grown and turned into fuels in a short period of time) to Wave / Wind power.
To make non-renewable energy resources last longer, we can promote energy efficiency by investing in technologies that reduce energy waste and improve energy deployment. Additionally, we can encourage the development and adoption of alternative energy sources such as renewable energy to decrease dependence on non-renewable resources. Proper recycling and waste management also play a crucial role in preserving non-renewable resources for an extended period.
Renewable energy is important because it helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combat climate change, and promote energy independence by diversifying energy sources. It also helps create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve public health by reducing air and water pollution.
Renewable resources, such as solar energy or wind power, are examples of resources that cannot be used up because they are naturally replenished over time.
Yes, nonrenewable and renewable sources are different - very different. For example, nonrenewable sources such as fossil fuels harm the environment and will run out soon. Green renewable sources are good for the environment such as solar energy. It comes from the sun. That is why it is called solar energy.
Resources that last longer are often referred to as sustainable resources. These are resources that can be used or consumed without depleting them for future generations.
The advantage of non renewable energy, is it's easy and cheap to use. There is no better way to store transfer and use energy than gasoline for powering motor vehicles. It's quick to pump fossil fuel into a car. Its stable in the tank and a gas tank hold quite a bit, and a gasoline powered car is cheap to manufacture. * Coal is a ready-made fuel. * It is relatively cheap to mine and to convert into energy. * Coal supplies will last longer than oil or gas * Oil is a ready-made fuel. * Relatively cheap to mine and to convert into energy * It is a relatively cheap form of energy. * It's a slightly cleaner fuel than coal and oil. * Gas is a ready-made fuel. * Nuclear has a small amount of radioactive material produces a lot of energy. And raw materials are relatively cheap and can last quite a long time. * It doesn't give off atmospheric pollutants. * Biomass is a cheap and readily available source of energy. and If the crops are replaced, biomass can be a long-term, sustainable energy source, but Biomass is actually considered renewable as plants are always growing. * Wood is a cheap and readily available source of energy. If the trees are replaced, wood burning can be a long-term, sustainable energy source
The more renewable energy we use the less non-renewable energy we use. And if we use less of it, it'll last longer.
Renewable energy resources like sun, wind, hydro, tidal etc will last as long as the sun is still going.Non-renewable resources like fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) are limited, and will eventually run out if we keep on burning them.
The remaining life of non-renewable energy resources are constantly being revised due to new innovations in extraction and processing methods, and because of developments in renewable energy resources.
Just don't use it too often
Because non-renewable sources are...well...non-renewable? They won't last forever. Renewable resources can be renewed. Congratz
Conserving energy by turning off lights and appliances when not in use, utilizing energy-efficient appliances, insulating homes to reduce heating and cooling needs, and using public transportation or carpooling to reduce fuel consumption can all help energy resources last longer. Additionally, investing in renewable energy sources like solar and wind power can decrease reliance on finite energy resources.
You can only save them if you don't use them, but you can use less to make them last longer
fossil fuels come from non-renewable (will not last forever) energy resources, these non-renewable energy resources (fossil fuels) come from CRUDE OIL, COAL, NATURAL GAS, NUCLEAR, sometimes wood and biomass - this depends on how it is extracted
Renewable energy is important because it helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, combat climate change, and promote energy independence by diversifying energy sources. It also helps create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve public health by reducing air and water pollution.
coal, gas You used a double negative here. The least non-renewable means the same thing as the most renewable. I would say sunlight is the most renewable energy source. Sure the sun will burn out some day, but that will be a long time from now. Sunlight will last a lot longer than coal and gas.
A sustainable resource means it will last for ever, or for as long as humans renew the source.
conserving our supplies of fossil fuels by using 'Renewable' energy from wind, solar and tides
