Reduce (fossil fuel) electricity use in your family and at school. There are many ways of doing this:

  • Turn off lights when not in use.
  • Turn appliances off at the wall. Using the remote can increase electricity use by 10%.
  • Wear more or less clothing to keep warmer or cooler to save power on heating and air conditioning.
  • Use a microwave oven instead of a regular oven.
  • Don't boil a full kettle if you only want one cup.
  • Use dish or clothes washing-machines only when they are full.
  • Don't use sleep or stand-by mode on your computer. Turn it off when you finish.
  • Make sure all your family/ classmates/ teachers know why you are doing this.

Reduce your use of fossil fuel oil by:

  • Riding or walking instead of driving.
  • Using buses, trams and trains if you can instead of cars and planes.
  • Ask your parents to do the same. Can you take a walk to the grocery store?
