The usual way is to burn the fuel; the heat might do something like boil water, producing vapor under pressure; or the expanding gases from an explosion (as in a gasoline or diesel engine) will move a piston. The resulting movement can power a generator.

This produces a lot of waste, due to Carnot's Law - since the energy is "downgraded" when it is converted into heat. It is also possible to get the electrical energy directly, as in a fuel cell - in this case, the conversion to heat is avoided, and the maximum efficiency can be much greater. In simple terms, the gasoline or similar fuel would become part of a "battery". But this is an area of ongoing research; it is not yet a technology widely used.

Electricity can be obtained from chemical energy stored in fuel through a process called combustion. The fuel is burned in the presence of oxygen to release heat, which is used to generate steam. The steam then drives a turbine connected to a generator, producing electricity by converting the mechanical energy into electrical energy.

What energy is obtained from petroleum a stored energy?

Potential energy is obtained from petroleum as a stored energy source. When petroleum is burned, the chemical potential energy stored within it is converted into heat energy that can be used to generate electricity or power vehicles.

What is the energy obtained from petroleum as stored energy?

The energy obtained from petroleum is in the form of chemical potential energy, which is stored in the hydrocarbon molecules. When petroleum is burned, this stored energy is released as heat and light energy, which can be used for various applications such as generating electricity or powering vehicles.

Why is the electricity stored inside a battery called potential energy?

The energy (not exactly electricity) stored in a battery is stored in the form of chemical energy. Chemical energy is a type of potential energy, since it depends on the forces between atoms.

What form of energy is stored in dry cells?

chemical energy

What are the two ways electricity can be stored?

Electricity can be stored in batteries, which convert chemical energy into electrical energy. It can also be stored in capacitors, which store electrical energy in an electric field.

What is Energy stored in fuels?

Chemical energy, which was originally obtained from the sun by long dead lifeforms.

What device that produces electricity from chemical energy?

A device that produces electricity from chemical energy is a battery. Batteries convert chemical energy stored within them into electrical energy through a chemical reaction. This electrical energy can then be harnessed to power various devices.

What is stored in fossil fuels?

Chemical energy, which was originally obtained from the sun by long dead lifeforms.

What type of energy is stored in coal?

Chemical energy is stored in coal, as it is a fossil fuel composed mostly of carbon. This energy is released when coal is burned through combustion processes to generate heat and electricity.

Is a Battery source for electricity?

Yes, a battery is a source of stored electrical energy that can be used to power various devices and equipment when connected in a circuit. The chemical reactions inside the battery convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy that can be used to produce electricity.

Can energy be stored in fuels?

Yes, energy can be stored in fuels in the form of chemical energy. This stored energy can be released through combustion or other chemical reactions to produce heat or electricity. Examples of fuels that store energy include gasoline, natural gas, and coal.

How do fossil fuels store energy?

Fossil fuels store energy through the chemical bonds between carbon and hydrogen atoms. When these bonds are broken through combustion, energy is released in the form of heat and light. This energy is then harnessed to generate electricity or power vehicles.
