Gas is nonpolar because of its symmetrical shape, and the charges cancel out, so it will not dissolve in water. Water is polar, and it dissolves with polar substances only.

(counter answer)

Gas dissolves in water until equilibrium is reached. The equilibrium tends to depend on the concentration just above and just below the surface of the liquid taking temperature into account. If you want to argue this I suggest you look up Henry's Law and disprove it so you can collect your nobel prize. CO2 tends to dissolve so that the weight of gas above the solution is fifty times the weight just beneath. Water vapor, which is a gas, is in a state of constant dissolving and repletion.

Yes, take water as an example. After it is dissolved into a gas it can be accumulated to make water (if captured) and if it is back to water it can be for frozen into a solid. Try a simple experiment and boil a pot of water then take a lid for that pot and put it over the steam. After you see droplets of water on it try getting it into a cup then put it in y our freezer and Voila, you gas has become a solid.

No, sugar will not dissolve in air. Substances dissolve in liquids, such as water, not in gases like air.

What gasses can dissolve in liquids?

Gases that can dissolve in liquids include oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and ammonia. The solubility of a gas in a liquid depends on factors such as temperature, pressure, and the chemical properties of the gas and liquid.

What affects how much gas and will dissolve in a liquid?

Gases are dissolved in liquids better at low temperatures.

Can water dissolve liquids and gases also?

Yes, water can dissolve both liquids and gases. When a substance dissolves in water, it forms a homogeneous mixture called a solution. The ability of water to dissolve other substances is due to its polar nature, allowing it to interact with a wide variety of molecules.

What is a solid that can dissolve in a given solvent called?

A solid that can dissolve in a given solvent is called a solute.
