∙ 8y agoThere were warnings in the US about stainless steel mugs because they were suspected to contain chemicals known to cause cancer or birth defects. However, there have not been any recently reported issues from drinking from stainless steel.

∙ 8y agoIt should be, but be sure it is silver plate. Some "silver" or "silver plate" antiques are really pewter, which is a lead alloy in antiques (modern pewter usually does not contain lead).
EPNS stands for electro plated nickel silver. This means that it was made after 1900 and is of no interest to antique collectors. The value is about $20 if you can find a buyer. There are not many buyers for silver plated items.
Sterling means that an item is solid silver of a certain quality, not plated.

If the item is solid silver, it will have identifiable silver hallmarks stamped into the metal. You could also buy a small kit designed to detect plated items from solid silver.

It has no value, unfortunately. EPNS stands for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver. It has no silver content and if in rough condition, it's going to have no value as a piece either. Sorry!
