Acidic soils are extremely common when tea is grown non-organic with excessive ammonium nitrogen fertilization which is almost always the case in Japan. Basically, the more nitrogen applied the more aluminum the plant will uptake. Avoid non-organic Japanese green tea and you'll be just fine!
