He started to drink it because Damon got bitten by a werwolf. And to cure a werwolf bite u need klus's blood! So klus said he would give Stefan the blood if stefan did what he wanted him to do! So klus wanted him to start drinking blood! But that's for season 2! In season 1 he had to drink blood to bulid his strength! :)
