In the Chinese Zodiac, it would be the years of the Sheep/Monkey. The Chinese celebrate the Lunar New Year, and the zodiac year (and hence the zodiac sign) change during the passing of the Lunar New Year, which takes place in either January or February.

There are always 12 signs in Astrology followed by those in the West. However, if you are looking for the Chinese Zodiac sign for 1996, up to the 18th of February it was the year of the pig, and from the 19th of February onwards it was the year of the Rat.

The Sun, Mercury (thought and communication), Venus (love and connections) sign for that date was Aquarius. Mars (motivation and sexuality) was in Capricorn. Most likely the Moon (inner emotions) was in Gemini, but that is dependent on the time of birth.

It depends on which zodiac signs you use. The date indicates a Taurus in Tropical Astrology, Aries in Sidereal Astrology and a Rabbit in Chinese Astrology.
