It’s Not A Illuminati Symbol It’s Just Very Similar. The Eye Inside The Triangle Is Supposed To Be God As The Highest. The Pyramid At The Bottom Is Supposed To Be America In Progress. There’s A Eye To Show That God Is Seeing If Your Good Or Bad. Some Say That It’s A Masonic Symbol Because Masons Use That Symbol In Art Back Then But It’s A Myth Because Other Groups Like Catholics Also Use It In Art Back Then.

The only symbols on the back of the one dollar bill are those commonly found in Liungman's Dictionary of Symbols or Becker's Encyclopedia of Symbols, none of which have ever been associated with the Illuminati. There would have been no point in using any Illuminati symbols regardless, since the Illuminati ceased to exist in 1785 and the final form of the back side of the dollar bill was established over a hundred years later in the 1930's.

It doesn't, and this is a loaded question.

To understand why this is a loaded question, and one for which I refuse to take the bait, it is necessary to explain and to explicate the images to which the questioner refers, primarily the images of the obverse and reverse of The Great Seal of the United States.

Let's break it down:

The obverse (front) side of the seal contains the following images:

  • An eagle with spread wings
  • A shield with thirteen red and white stripes
  • A cloud over the eagle's head containing thirteen stars

The reverse side contains the following images:

  • A pyramid
  • The Eye of Providence
  • The scroll

What these images or symbols mean do not correlate in any way with what the hoard of gullible paranoids want them to mean. Where they would tell you to go research it for yourself, I will give you a brief explanation to help you get started.

The front of the Great Seal:The Eagle:

Of all the images on The Great Seal, this is perhaps the easiest to explain. Jefferson, Franklin, and Adams, the three men who were charged with designing The Great Seal of the US, purposefully chose our national bird to display on our national coat of arms. The eagle holds a scroll in his beak inscribed with E pluribus Unum (Latin for Out of many, One). During the Age of Enlightenment, when the US was born, Latin was the language of academia. It immediately conveyed the message that what ever was stated in Latin demanded intelligent consideration. Recognize that most of the published works of England and Europe of the time, for at least a hundred years before, were published in Latin. No secret intent, no secret mission, simply a note of academia. "Out of many, One" simply denotes the nature of the new country, and the over all nature of the US; the US is the only nation of the world where anyone may come, establish citizenship, and become thatnationality. Short rabbit hunt: you could emigrate to China today, become a Chinese citizen, live there for the next fifty years, but you will never become Chinese (ethnically or otherwise). In the US, the moment you take the oath of citizenship, you are American.

The eagle holds in his talons an olive branch and thirteen arrows. Before I go on, the number thirteen repeats often for very good reason: there were thirteen original colonies. There is no other reason, mystical or superstitious, than that there were thirteen American colonies. The olive branch is an international and historical symbol of peace. The arrows represent war or military power. That the eagle carries both represents the balance that the US has maintained from its birth between an ambassador of peace and a world military power (not so much the military power in the beginning, but there is no doubt that the US is the singular military superpower in the world today).

The Shield:

A shield rests on the breast of the eagle. It contains thirteen (see? there it is again) red and white stripes. The red symbolizes the blood shed in defense of this country and valor; this is an ancient symbol. Where it appears in other common symbols, it typically means the same. The white represents purity, or purity of purpose--justified action. This shield held up by the eagle is representative that Americans rely on their own virtue. The thirteen stripes, as previously explained, represent the original colonies, but also represent the states, juxtaposed with the blue (the color in the US that represents the federal government--the President and Congress). Again, the colors are the national colors of the US, the red demonstrates hardiness and valor, honor of action; the white shows innocence and purity; the blue symbolizes vigilance, justice, and perseverance.

The Cloud:

A cloud is displayed above the eagle's head surrounding a blue field, containing thirteen (see?) stars. This constellation of stars (the collective noun of a group of stars is a constellation). Additionally, it must be noted that the cloud is the first allusion to divine purpose. Clouds are a very common image in religious works of art. Michelangelo depicted the hand of God pointing toward Adam from the clouds on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Jan van Eyck displays a number of images in the clouds in his panels The Crucifixion; The Last Judgment.

Symbols on Reverse of Great Seal:The Pyramid:

To understand the meaning of the pyramid as a symbol, it is important to understand that the word pyramid comes to us from Latin pyramides, plural of pyramis "one of the pyramids of Egypt," from Greek πυραμίς pyramis (plural pyramides), an alteration of Egyptian pimar meaning height, and associating with perhaps royalty or afterlife. From the time of the Renaissance and the Age of Enlightenment the image of the pyramid has been associated with enlightenment, illumination, primitive or primal energy, the Creative Seed,

and Divine Principle. The thirteen steps (again) of the pyramid reflect the colonies and infant states. The Roman numerals at the base, MDCCLXXVI, is the year 1776, the year the nation was born in the minds of the Founding Fathers. We still celebrate 4 July 1776 as the birth date of the United States of America.

The Eye:

The eye is perhaps the most misunderstood image of The Great Seal. This ancient symbol is literally called the Eye of Providence. It represents the All Seeing Eye of God, denoting the omniscient nature of God. Placing it on the Great Seal immediately implies that the Eye of God is on all that the US does. It states clearly and undeniably that the designers believed God was watching them.

Above the eye is the Latin motto Annuit Coeptis. This references the eye prominently displayed beneath it, and translates He consented to the attempts, or He favors our undertakings. He being God in this case as denoted by the All Seeing Eye of God.

The Scroll:

The scroll lies beneath the pyramid and is inscribed with the Latin, Novus Ordo Seclorum, literally translated is New Order of the Ages. This alludes to the 1776 inscription on the pyramid and the birth of the new nation. It also implies the great change that the new United States represented on the world stage. It literally announced the beginning of a new age.

So, there it is, all laid out. But, don't take my word for it. Dig it up and check for yourself. I encourage you to avoid searching this stuff on the internet though, where the delusional gibbering of the gullible abounds with discussions of secret societies like the nefarious Illuminati. While the original Illuminati was born in the same year as the US, there was no connection between them, and even if there were, the design for the one dollar bill was not done as it is today until 1929 with the issuance of the one dollar silver certificate.

Start at your local library, and look for books such as Cooper's An Illustrated Encylopaedia of Traditional Symbols (ISBN: 9780500770917, published by Thames & Hudson, 17 March 1987), and Continuum Encyclopedia of Symbols by Udo Becker (ISBN-13: 978-0826412218, published by Continuum, May 2000). Also, check out Michael Ferber's A Dictionary of Literary Symbols2nd Edition (

ISBN-13: 978-0521690546, published by Cambridge University Press, 6 August 2007).

Then again, if you are one of those who are flooding the internet with delusional fantasies, it won't likely matter what you do. Just don't do the delusional spam on WikiAnswers.

There are people who believe there are some Illuminati symbols on the US dollar bill, but that is considered part of a conspiracy theory by others.

Does the US dollar have anything to do with illuminati?

No. The Order of Illuminati died in 1785. The US dollar was first minted in 1928 when it was issued as a Silver Certificate. It has remained essentially unchanged since the first issue of the small sized notes (other than ink colors and other minor differences). All of the images depicted on the US one dollar bill have a rich history, but none of it is connected to the Illuminati.
