Is a UFO an unidentified flying object?

UFO means "unidentified flying object", which means you look up and see something and don't know what it is. In that sense UFOs are real. There are plenty of natural and man-made things in the sky that are hard to identify.

Some people think "UFO" stands for "Alien Spacecraft", which would of course be "A.S.". In real life, neither aliens nor alien spacecraft are known to actually exist, which makes them the least likely explanation for these events. But can we assume everyone who tells us that they have seen what appears to them to be aliens and/or alien spacecraft is lying?

Any object that is not resting on the ground and can't be identified by the observer. An unidentified object to one observer may simply be a very simple object to another observer. If an object is considered to be unidentified by several trained observers, then scientific explanations should be applied to rule out natural reasons. If all logical and scientific reasons are exhausted, then the observed object will remain unexplained.

Objects viewed from the ground or air can often appear to do unusual things. This is due to inversions of air, time of day, distance from the object, and many other factors. 99% of all objects have a logical explanation. The remaining 1% is left for debate as to their origins. The FY117 is a classic example of a very unusual flying aircraft. Before the admission of the United States Air force as to the new aircraft, it was considered to be an unidentified flying object.

If you have a question about something you consider to be unidentified, I would suggest going to the MUFON site and read if other people have also observed the same object. I thought I saw a very unusual object and after going to the MUFON site I discovered the object to be the launch of a Navy rocket off the coast of Florida.

There have been hundreds of thousands of UFO sightings for thousands of years, but no one has ever introduced any hard visible evidence that one might be able to view and inspect. Maybe a couple of videos and eye witness reports.

Unfortunately, videos are of little more value than photos. Both are dependent on light sources and both lack perspective for the viewer. Pictures of any kind can be deceptive (even innocently) from any source. Pictures from a number of sources, that include objective pictures (such as from parking lot or property surveillance cameras) combined with pictures from individuals personal devices showing different views of the same thing would give a phenomenon more perspective and could even lead to identification of an unidentified object.

Many of the well known pictures and home movies of unidentified flying objects have been identified by people with some perspective and knowledge. Of those identified, a type of deception has been identified. There are also a few that have remained unidentified.

This could include secret military planes or UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicles) or could even be flying craft of unknown origin. There is speculation that UFO's could be piloted by alien species from extra-terrestrial origin, but this is speculation.
