Smoke alarm may go off when it's not smokey inside because tiny, weak radioactive material which ionizes the air triggers the false alarm by sensing invisible smoke.
Any type of smoke, steam or particles denser than air will set off a smoke alarm. This means that smoke emitted from the incense will set off a smoke alarm when in range of the detector.
fix it
Not unless it is smoked in the vicinity of a smoke detector.
Smoke alarms are hung so that if there is a fire you will know it. If toast is smoking then the alarm will detect it.
If the smoke alarm goes off because of steam or smoke from cooking, the alarm should be moved to a better location or a different type of sensor used. It is very dangerous to have too many false alarms because people tend to ignore them, until the one time it really is a fire, and then it may be too late. If a smoke detector makes an intermittent "chirp", not a loud and continuous alarm, it may be signalling that it is time to replace the battery. Smoke detectors should be replaced every ten years, even if they still seem to be working, since they are only designed for a limited useful lifetime.
you can get a towel and start waving it in front of the alarm and keep on doing it until the fire alarm stops
Actually steam can set it off. According to the USFA website, you should not mount a smoke alarm within 3 feet of a bathroom or kitchen to avoid this possibility. Apparently, smoke alarms tend to be more sensitive when the house is colder, so an open window and a smoke alarm close to the bathroom could result in it going off. http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/downloads/pyfff/smkalarm.html
A smoke alarm should never be turned off. If your smoke detector is not working correctly, you can start by taking a vacuum or a can of compressed air and clean any dust or dirt from inside the unit. If cleaning the unit does not help then you will need to have it replaced or repaired.
press onThere are two kinds of smoke detectors. 1. When a fire burns, it releases smoke. The smoke detector senses the smoke. 2. A fire is very hot. The detector feels the heat. A smoke detector will then either set off an alarm, or it will turn on the sprinklers.
The smoke/fire alarm will go off or you will see smoke. You could also see the fire.
They are devices that are made to sense changes in heat (heat alarm/fire alarm) which then activated either self sounders or complex alarm systems Smoke alarms detect chemical changes and as like heat set off either internal sounders or complex alarm networks
