It is not recommended to shoot slugs with a power pack chock on a JC Higgins model.
Yes you can shoot slugs through a screw on Polly choke although it is ill advised! The choke must be opened to "improved cylinder" or "open bore "before firing any slug or solid type ammo. The one time you forget to use this setting then you may experience barrel swelling or worse , you could blow off your choke. So Why risk it? How many humans never forget?
