Allosaurus was a large, carnivorous dinosaur, and its prey would have been large, herbivorous dinosaurs such as Camptosaurus, Dryosaurus, and Stegosaurus. In addition, they would have hunted young sauropods such as Diplodocus, Apatosaurus, Camarasaurus, and Brachiosaurus. If they ever hunted in packs, Allosaurus may have even hunted adult sauropods. To hunt their smaller prey, Allosaurus would ambush it, then sprint to capture it by clinging to the prey with its claws. Then it would kill it with bites to the throat. For large sauropods, they would have mobbed the prey and repeatedly slashed it until it bled to death.
