Stegosaurus was 23 to 30 feet long and weighed up to 5.5 tons. Like large animals today, they wouldn't have slept in caves or shelters. They would have slept either in the open or perhaps in a grove of trees or a forest.

There were four different species of Stegosaurus. The largest was Stegosaurus armatus, which grew to be 30 feet long. Stegosaurus longispinus and Stegosaurus stenops were both smaller, growing to be about 23 feet long.

Not long at all, anymore. The stegosaurus has not lived in the past 155 million years or so. It is not very likely you will be running into one in the near future. Not having had one alive to study, it is not possible to determine the average lifespan either.
