Human nutrition is different than animal nutrition in many ways. First of all, many animals are limited in the kinds of foods they can eat. Many animals are either herbivores or carnivores. Some are omnivores, like humans, but still are able to get all the nutrients they need by eating less of a variety than humans. Animals can differ in the way they ingest food also. Some are suspension feeders, which obtain their food by capturing food suspended in water. Some are substrate feeders which live in a food source (think if we lived on a big doughnut). Fluid feeders get nutrients form a host's fluids. One way we are similar to other animals are that many are bulk feeders like us. Bulk eaters usually have some means of consuming large amounts of vegetable or meat matter at one time (teeth). Another way we are alike, though the processes differ somewhat, is how we process food: ingestion, digestion, absorption, elimination.
