A Registered Dietitian uses an Ideal Body Weight formula: For men, this formula is: 106lbs + 6lbs. for each inch over 60inches. So, if you are male, this would be 106 + (6x9) = 160lbs or 72.7kg For women, this formula is: 100lbs + 5lbs. for each inch over 60 inches. So, if you are female, this would be 100 + (5x9) = 145lbs or 65.9kg Your age doesn't factor into how much you should weigh as much as it does your basic energy expenditure needs (BEE), calorie, and protein needs. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a website that can do a lot of calculations for you at www.MyPyramid.gov. You may also consult the American Dietetic Association's website at www.eatright.org.

I have always heard that at 5'0" as an average-boned woman you should ideally weigh 100 lbs. and for every inch in height from there you would add 5 lbs. So in your case of 5'9" tall you should weigh approximately 145 lbs. (this is flexible of course dependent upon bone size, age, etc., I would say give or take 5-10 lbs. below that or above it).

Your age has nothing to do with what you should weigh. Your height is what is used to determine if you are of average weight.
