well.. the esophagus depends on the mouth because without the food broken into smaller bits, you'd choke because the food is too big to go through the tube. All other organs after the esophagus depends on the liver because it produces acids that kill bacteria or other harmful substances you might have eaten, produces acids that break apart the food and much more. ...hope this helped?

Without the digestive system, there is no organism. While studying the biological systems, it is easy to see an organism as a compilation of separate parts. But in reality, all parts work together to form a cohesive whole. And without one of those parts, the organism is not able to function properly. This is not an ideal answer for a test essay, but it is a holistic answer focused on one of the themes of Biology.
