If you are trying to build muscle mass then you need to work out matching your protein intake with your work out and carbs. The ratio should be 2 grams carbs to 1 gram protein. Protein alone can not do either very well it is hard for the body to process protein. So in order to do that you need a delivery system (i.e.) carbs.) With the carbs and a work out you can build muscle mass other wise you will put on fat however this is not from the protein this would be from excessive calorie that you do not burn, which then become fat. You should only take in as much as your going to use. its 2 grams protein to 1 gram carbs... if you weigh 200 pounds you need 200 grams of protein and 100 grams carbs daily.
