To reduce weight you need to reduce the amount of energy (calories or kilojoules) you are consuming each day, so you have to eat foods that are less energy dense like vegetables and fruit and foods high in fibre like dried fruit, popcorn which will keep you feeling fuller for longer so you are not tempted to snack on junk food.



When you eat foods higher in fibre you will feel fuller for longer. Eat more wholegrain bread and cereals instead of regular white bread and breakfast cereals loaded with sugar. When you are hungry snack on a carrot or a piece of fresh fruit or some nuts. Stop eating foods high in fat and sugar. Start reading nutrition and ingredient labels on packaged foods, find out what you are eating.


You also need to be doing at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise each day like going for a walk or jog. There is no way to lose weight quickly, and a lot of products that promise fast weight loss can in fact be dangerous. Diet pills and shakes are a waste of money because people diet to lose weight, they lose the weight and then they stop dieting. People who go on diets usually start putting weight back on when they stop dieting and so it becomes like a yo yo with their weight constantly fluctuating going up and down. Instead of short term diets you need to permanently change your lifestyle and the foods you eat. Stop eating highly processed foods high in calories or kilojoules, do more exercise, stop smoking, stop drinking alcohol, alcohol is very high in calories.
