Antioxidants are used in our bodies to fight damage cause by the normal oxidation process. If we don't have enough antioxidants to fight the damage caused by the free radical created by this oxidation, our cells and organs are adversely affected.

Antoxidants are substances (nutrients) that help the body to counter free radical activity in the body. This takes place at the cellular level.

During normal body metabolism, free radicals are produced. These free radicals are desperately seeking an oxygen molecule in order to become stable. Increased free radical activity has a negative impact on cellular health. In fact, scientists believe that this is the origin of degenerative ailments. Toxins in the food we eat, the environment we live; poor diets, lack of exercise, smoking-all tend to increase free radical activity in the body. Antioxidants help to stabilize free radical activity and protect cellular health. Research shows that antioxidants help to support anti-aging.

Antioxidants are usually found in richly colored foods such as carrots, broccoli, strawberries, cherries, acai berries, etc. Each of these food sources has different antioxidants, and research shows each antioxidant helps to support different functions of the body. Our bodies need a rich dose of a variety of antioxidants every day. If it is not possible to get enough through our daily diets, it's good to take supplements like Ruby Reds which contains a broad spectrum of condensed nutrition from natural food sources-rich red superfoods and others vegetables. Ruby Reds provides a highly condensed form of delicious nutrition and a powerful dose of antioxidants, with hardly any calories. It's a complete vitamin drink made from natural food sources.

An antioxidant is any molecule that is stable with or without all its necessary electrons. A free radical, on the other hand, is a molecule that is unstable when it loses an electron.

An unstable free radical causes damage to nearby healthy cells when it "bounces" around looking for an electron to steal. A damaged healthy cell is the cause of aging, illness and disease.

The purpose of an antioxidant is to donate one of its electrons to the unstable free radicals. Once it has done that, both molecules are stable.

Antioxidants, therefore, are nature's solution to that problem.
Antioxidants help to keep good health and preventing diseases. These powerful substances, which mostly come from the fresh fruits and vegetables we eat. Antioxidants help to avoid troubles in the human body linked with free radicals, such as cancer, stroke etc.

Antioxidants support cellular health. They function by providing an oxygen molecule to free radicals. During the course of body metabolism, free radicals are produced-these free radicals lack an oxygen molecule and therefore become de-stable leading to a chain reaction of free radical activity. Free radical activity, if not checked by antioxidants, can lead to degeneration of cells, which leads to further degeneration of tissues and organs. Scientists believe that this may be the root cause of many of the ailments our society suffers from today. Most diets don't include enough antioxidants and therefore supplementation is essential. I take a nutritional supplement called Ruby Reds which contains over 50 natural food sources-red superfoods rich in antioxidants, vegetables, enzymes, probiotics and proteins! It's a complete nutrition supplement and makes up for the inadequacies in any diet. It works well with my diet, too as it is just 30 calories a serving.
