If there is no external stimulus- it is called an Olfactory Hallucination. Sometimes I get them of quite different odors- I used to be able to recall the smell of a then Brand-New Lorain Crane I saw when I was a kid in the so-called Roaring Junkyard ( in Williamsport, Pa) I have not been able to conjure up this odor for some years, maybe the half-life in my olfactory memory expired. Nothing to worry about.
