The untouchables were people that did not belong to a group of the caste, so they were not considered a group of the Caste System. My World History teacher from the University of Arkansas in Monticello says that it included outcasts, "untouchables," and "children of God."
Another name for "childern of God" is harijans.
Caste system is carried on by a Hindu untouchable.
An Untouchable is the lowest rank in the Caste System in India so an Untouchable must be within the lowest rank in society in India.

It brings someone in the Caste System, ( in India ) , to a higher part of the caste system. Let's say that someone in India was a untouchable, someone who stays outside the walls, has good karma they will be born into a higher caste group.
In the caste system, if a Brahmin (the highest caste) touches an untouchable (the lowest caste), it is considered impure and can result in social repercussions for the Brahmin such as being ostracized or facing backlash from their community. Traditionally, there are strict rules and norms surrounding interactions between different castes.
That when the caste system began people may have acted differently, by being as good as they can be so they don't get reincardinated as the untouchable.

In the old times, no. Different caste systems were in place and the lower you were in the caste system the worse you were treated and you were born into a caste system and could never get out of it. Though you could be a wonderful Hindu philosopher in the untouchable class. Now the caste system has essentially vanished though.
The caste system is a system that the Aryans made because they disliked the Dravidians very much. It was a system that kept them away from lower caste people. A person could never change the case he was in or he would be called an untouchable or outcaste. I hope that that answered your question.
