What indan tribe was Pocahontas a princess of?
She was a member of the Mattaponi tribe being that her mother
was a member of that tribe. They shared a neck of land between the
modern day Mattaponi and Pamunkey rivers in Virginia with the
Pamunkey tribe. They were then practically the same tribe.
Both of these tribes and 30 others were at one time part of the
Powhatan Paramountcy. Powhatan was the mamanatowick or overlord of
the other chief's.
