Montezuma lived in the city of Tenochtitlan, which was the capital city of the Aztec Empire. It was located on an island in the middle of Lake Texcoco, in present-day Mexico City.
Montezuma, also known as Moctezuma, was born in Tenochtitlan, which is present-day Mexico City. He was the ninth ruler of the Aztec empire, reigning from 1502 until his death in 1520.
Montezuma II, the Aztec ruler, was buried in what is now Mexico City. His tomb is believed to be located under the site of the Templo Mayor, one of the main temples of the Aztec capital city of Tenochtitlan. However, his exact burial site has never been discovered.
Present-day Mexico city is located atop the ruins of ancient Tenochtitlan.
