It's not Zeus that is disrupting the seas after Odysseus leaves Calypso's island; it is Poseidon. Athena went to Zeus to ask for his help to get Odysseus home and Zeus agreed that he would allow Odysseus to try and get home. Poseidon, on the other hand, hates the Greeks and especially hates Odysseus because he killed his son the cyclops, Polyphemus.
After leaving Calypso's island in Book V of Homer's "The Odyssey", Odysseus faces many challenges on his journey home. He encounters a storm created by the wrath of Poseidon, he is shipwrecked on the island of the Phaeacians, and he is finally helped by Princess Nausicaa. Ultimately, he reaches the safety of the Phaeacian court.

Odysseus builds a raft and is given clothing, food and drink by Calypso. It is wrecked by Poseidon, but Odysseus swims ashore on the island of Scherie, where, naked and exhausted, he hides in a pile of leaves and falls asleep. Next morning, awakened by the laughter of girls, he sees the young Nausicaa.
Odysseus hides under the largest ram as it leaves for the pasture in the morning.
