Sir John Franklin was born in Spilsby,Lincolnshire.He is famous for being a officer at the Royal Navy at the age of 15.

Also,while he was a officer there he fought in the great sea war of Trafalgar.

John Franklin was sponsored by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to go to the Artic

but he never came back and told queen Victoria if he ever gets lost or does not come back not to look for him.Eventualy she sent out McClintock to look for him and he did and found his ship wrecked on an iceburg.Once he got of his own ship

he went over to Franklin's ship and found a bunch of people dead on the floor

including Sir John Franklin.McClintock noticed something in the coal he had just noticed and picked it up it was a 2 letters.One was written on May 28 1847 when the men appeared to be well and untroubled.The second message Was found out to be a year later.It said of death of Franklin and 24 other crew members and said that the survivors were heading South.When he went back to England Queen Victoria asked to see the thing he had found.The Fox(Sir John Franlin's ship) was taken to

the isle of Wight near osborne house so that Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and the kids could visit it.Once Franklin's wife heard about it she ordered them to make a college in his name.
