death
Calypso wasn't on any side. She was trapped on her island. Odysseus sailed onto her island and stayed with her for many years. He fought in the Trojan war, but Calypso never was on a side.
Odysseus rejects Calypso's offer because he is homesick and wishes to see his wife Penelope, his child, whom he has never seen, his parents, and his home once again.
he mourns for Ithaca, his family and his old life. He also sleeps with Calypso several times, though he never truly falls in love with her.
When Odysseus was with Calypso, he initially enjoyed her hospitality but eventually grew homesick and longed to return to his wife, Penelope, and his homeland, Ithaca. With Circe, he was initially wary of her magic but eventually grew fond of her and found her to be a valuable ally in his journey home.
Calypso
He was disloyal because he cheated on Penelope with Calypso and Circe. He was so afraid that Penelope was being unfaithful, yet he had two affairs ~ At least with Circe, he could not help but to be unfaithful. Circe was a witch and made him sleep with her lest his men remain animals and he would never see Penelope again. In the case with Calypso, she said that her island had bound him there and that he was never allowed to leave. So yes, he had a choice whether to sleep with Calypso or not but he did. Guess he thought he might as well enjoy himself if it's going to be forever. Which, you can't blame the man. lol
Calypso initially resists releasing Odysseus because she has feelings for him and wishes for him to stay with her. However, she ultimately agrees to let him go when Zeus orders her to do so, realizing that it is his fate to return home to his wife, Penelope.
odysseus feared he would never return home and that he would never see his wife penelope
