Buy newly harvested raw penuts at your state or local farmers market. Now boil them just like boiling dried peas until the nut in the shell absorbes water and becomes very soft. Time how long it takes. Salt is normally added to the cooking water for flavor. Too much is worse than too little. Look for a happy medium.
First get your self some fresh raw peanuts. The greener the peanut the better. If you can not find green peanuts regular raw peanuts will work you will just need to soak them for a good 24 hours.
Next you will want to wash the peanuts really good with tap water. Removing any stems or loose shells. You will need to get yourself a large pot. About 5 gallons. Generally people use a outside propane fryer. Add your nuts to your pot. Once you got your nuts in the pot you will need to add water. Generally I like to leave about 2-3 inches of water above the nuts. Add salt to the water. This is 100% a taste preference. No real set amount. You can also add any other flavors you like at this point as well. Bring it to a boil and keep stirring very 15 minutes.
After an hour and a half test your nuts and see if they are good. If not let em go another 30 minutes or so and test again until you satisfied.
