The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages, as far as taste and texture; but here goes. The disadvantages would be dirtying dishes and having to clean up the kitchen, it takes longer to bake your own than it does to use store-bought baked items, the kitchen heats up with the heat from the oven.

It depends on what you're cooking. I would never try to grill a cake, or try to bake a steak. Always use the right tool for the job.
