to reduce the salt taste in food soak the food for two hours in milk. For some reason the milk will start to taste salty but the food will taste less saltier. If by mistake i put too much salt in my soup,to reduced the salt content i place three or four raw (uncooked potatoes) into the soup.For a fact your soup will not taste as salty,you may latter choose to remove the potato or incorporate it as an additional vegetable.

If you've used too much salt in something such as a soup, stew, or casserole, add potato. You can cube the potato and simmer until it's tender; it will absorb much of the salt.

If a food such as pastry, pies, cookies and so on are too heavily salted there isn't much you can do. Serving a pie with mashed potatoes will work to some extent, or plain unflavoured whipped cream or yoghurt might help with a sweet pie.

Have a think about why your food is too salty and don't buy that brand again, or if you've cooked it yourself, take care with adding salt next time.

Unsalted butter is best to use in cooking, from casseroles to pastry.

One way to remove salt from food is to soak it in fresh water for a time, discard the water and soak again; repeating several times.

If it is soup, add potatoes to it, and more water. Any other food, just double the ingredients. You will end up with more food than planned, but at least is edible.
