I was looking for the answer to this question myself. I couldn't find a definitive answer however I went to monkeysee.com and Christine Bruhn (PhD & Director of the Center for Consumer Research at the University of California) says that if the fats in the brown rice is rancid, it becomes a carcinogen. Better safe than sorry, I tossed mine. here is the link:
