Depends - Great for hot water - not great for hot butter or fatty things - the plastic reaches a glass transition temperature around 220F that will allow it to soften considerably. Boiling water won't get that hot but excessively heated grease will. Not to mention that the grease has higher solvent properties on the plastic that the water. Heating up water for tea is no problem.
