For a tech savvy person, the ereader is very user friendly and easy to use. The Kindle and Kindle Fire from Amazon are some of the most user friendly. The Nook is also a good model as is the iPad. However, the iPad functions more like a netbook.

If you are only interested in reader an iPad is not needed. An iPad is better if you want to use all of it's features, but if you don't use them then it is a waste of money. The kindle and nook will be a better option.
