No, wash them by hand, and then air dry.
Anything with feathers, I would not recommend machine-washing or drying...
At least once a week.
"Yes, but it is recommended that you don't wash them frequently. Frequent washing of goose down items can cause damage to the down clusters. Check the tag on the pillow and follow the manufacturers instructions."
For pillows that have been exposed to head lice, you can do a few things. You can toss them to make sure the bugs are gone. Another option is to bag up the pillows for several weeks. This will basically starve the lice. You can wash the pillows in your washing machine and then put them in the dryer. The washing will not kill the bugs, but the heat in the dryer will.
It may not be a good idea to machine wash a down bedspread. Consider getting it cleaned professionally at your dry cleaners.
YES! You sleep on it every night if not more, that's why YOU shower. So you need to wash your pillows too, at least once a week. It also helps with acne if you wash your pillow because of all the germs and how dirty pillows get.
It will probably be okay to machine wash it as long as you don't use warm or hot water.

Down pillows are different from other pillows because it is made of down feathers, which is much softer and comfier than other materials used to make such. It has much more appeal in terms of customers.
no its unacceptable to wash a wool blanket in a machine
I have washed pillows both feather and foam. Make sure the machine is balanced with other object which will be of same weight. Keep an eye out for stress on machine and especially balance during spinning cycle. Drying can be the problem, I'd let foam dry in air, feather pillows can be dried in dryer making sure there are no leaking feathers. I didn't do this on one occasion and had a heck of a time cleaning the dryer of all residue feathers!. An of course, clean that lint filter everytime you use dryer, whether drying pillows or anything else. The above would hold true for fiber filled pillows but these tend to compress and get lumpy.
