Everyone needs to make photo copies of pictures and documents at one time or another, and when those needs arise a copier will get the job done. Whether you are making copies because you want someone to have a particular picture or magazine article, or because you want additional copies of an important document, like a marriage license or birth certificate, you’ll need to know how to properly use a copier to satisfy your needs. Below we offer some basic tips that any novice will find helpful:
• When you see a copy machine, it might seem like a crazy contraption, but it’s really not that difficult to use. Begin by gently lifting the lid and placing your paper on the glass surface.
• Close the lid and press the number key that corresponds with the amount of copies you want made. Usually there’s a big green button that will get the copying process started, but if there isn’t look for a button that says “start” or “copy.”
• Wait for all of the paper to stop coming out of the machine and then remove it from the tray and your original document from the glass.
• Sometimes you’ll have a document t that has content on both sides that you want copied onto one piece of paper. To make a two-sided copy, there’s usually what looks like a print tray on the top of the machine. Put your document in there and press the appropriate buttons. The machine will take the document and copy the information off both sides onto one sheet of paper.
• If you have a piece of oversized paper that needs to be copied, you simply press the appropriate buttons (they vary with different models) that tells the copier to take a piece of paper from an additional tray that is already loaded with larger-sized paper, and it will pull the paper from that tray to make your copy.
Copy machines have been around for years, so they are hardly cutting-edge technology. However, new copiers have a wide array of buttons and layers of usability that can easily confuse someone who isn’t overly familiar with these machines. If you are using a copy machine at a national chain like Kinkos or even at your local library you’ll be able to get assistance from somebody who can help you achieve your desired result. This will prevent you from wasting 15 or 20 cents per copy on the trial-and-error method.
