Speed of sata 1 is 1.5 Gbps Speed of sata 2 is 3 Gbps
Sata is a different kind of disk. If your computer onlyhas a PATA drive connection you won't be able to run SATA. You should be able to find a SATA disk controller or upgrade your motherboard.
SATA 3 is backwards compatible, it means you connect it the same way as SATA 1.
means the m.2 will get all of the power that the two sata 5 and 6 would get. it also means that the pathway the sata drives use is the same as the m.2.
Yes. Assuming that your mobo has at least 2 SATA ports, 1 IDE port, and appropriate power cables are available from the power supply.
The main difference is transfer speed, if you for instance a new solid state drive it a sat 1 port it will be limited in speed, still fast but not the maximum performance you could get out of it, For a conventional Hard drive you won't notice the difference though. All sata devices are backward compatible so theres no worries there

You should check the exact type of your SATA drives, and what cables they require, on their website: SATA drives come as SATA-1 and SATA-2, and also as E-SATA [external SATA], I believe. The cables may be different, check it out on Wiki or your mfrs site. cheers!
Most likely it's 2 SATA 2 ports.
Windows 2000 has no native support for SATA drives. If you have a slipstreamed CD with service pack 4, and the drivers for the SATA controller, you can install it. If not, you will have to run the SATA controller in emulation mode, so that Windows 2000 thinks that it is an IDE drive.
Answer:It looks like what you really need to know is: PATA, is the same as IDE.We had so many standards on IDE: ATA, Ultra ATA, Ultra66(wed roped the ATA), And on, and on. The new tech is SATA, which is just Serial ATA. Since the old technology is all Parallel, we just refer the old IDE as P ATA now. If you have a PATA, you have an IDE, which will run 2 IDE devices of you set the jumpers correctly. So yes, but only 2.
Yes. SATA drives and controllers are backwards and forwards-compatible. However, a 3.0 drive attached to a 1.5 controller will only run at 1.5 speed.
