This laptop features three Hi-Speed USB and four pin USB Type A ports.
A USB switch box should work for external USB drives.
You can install them the same way as all other hard drives to your laptop. You can put the CD into your laptop and install it or you can put in the USB cord and install it like that.
If it has a USB port, you can use memory sticks/flash drives. I don't know of any laptops that don't have floppy drives, zip drives, CD ROM drives or USB ports.

If you have a USB drive and your BIOS supports booting from a USB device then try that.
If your laptop is equipped with a USB port (most are) then virtually any USB wireless adapter will work.
Your external USB 3 HDD may work on your old laptop which only has USB 2. Most of the USB 3 will work on a USB 2 if you have the proper speed cable. It will only operate at the 2.0 speed, however.

If you have a working usb port on your laptop, you can buy a wireless mouse for it. Most wireless mice work with a usb connecter which needs to stay plugged into your laptop.
This simply isn't possible. Hard drives and floppy drives work in very different ways.
