Depending on what form of Microsoft or software you have, you have to go to the insert section and click of symbols. There, it will give several options.

*NEW PERSON* What about Windows? Does that let you make symbols? I'm writing it correctly, Alt + 3 (For the heart) And when I try every combination (Release Alt, Press Alt) It still doesn't let me... So I have to copy like this; ♥♥♥

In Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 (and maybe earlier versions too), symbols can be written using the following steps.

  1. Make sure Num Lock is on
  2. Press and hold the Alt key
  3. While holding Alt, type the alt code on the number pad (not the row of numbers on top)
  4. Release the Alt key

If this still doesn't work or you are using a laptop, you can use the Character Map program to view a list of all unicode characters available. This program is typically located (in Windows 7) in the start menu under Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map
