it's not necessarily better. it is brighter than lcd, which is why contrast ratios shoot up well over the 150k:1 ratio for lcd. they are also incredibly thin and lightweight. true led TVs, or oled TVs have each individual pixel lit up, while most consumer led TVs use fluorescent light bars to produce a picture. this lets them show more colors and be a bit better for darker colors. however the leds lose a lot of viewing angle when vied from the side.
