A UTP Ethernet cable, is I think means "unshielded twisted pair" cable and another one is called STP "shielded twisted pair" cable. The more commonly used one in the industry and by most consumers I think is the one you've mentioned, the UTP Ethernet cable, you might want to double check.
The STP "shielded twisted pair" cable is better for "alien crosstalk" (external interruption such as power cables, other electronic equipment and such) however, this one needs to be installed carefully (grounded on both ends) otherwise it can act as an antenna instead, I could be wrong though, this is what I think I've read somewhere.
Anyhow, try checking out the information on "wikipedia.org". I go there for a lot of my information. Just type in anything you're interested in in the search box and it will give you a listing. I already tried one search for the subject you've mentioned (UTP Ethernet cable) and found some info. explaining/defining what it means. I'll list the website/URL below for you, just cut and paste it in your web browser above (in the box on top of your webpage and click enter):

Another useful website is "ehow.com" (try searching it up on wikipedia.org, the website mentioned above, it will describe, in detail, what the website is about). Anyhow I typed in the phrase: "UTP vs. STP" in the search box and found some more info. on UTP Ethernet cables, try checking it out. I'll list the website/URL below:

You may want to try doing some more searching on Google
Good Luck, hope this info. was useful
Several types of cables are used, depending on the specific type of Ethernet. The cables most commonly used nowadays, however, are UTP (unshielded twisted pair) - and for longer distances, fiber optic.
UTP stands for 'unshielded twisted pair'. These cables are usually found in Ethernet networks and telephone lines. They are also sometimes found as part of a security network.

The connector used to terminate Ethernet cables is called an RJ-45 connector. They are the clear plastic connectors you see at either end of an Ethernet cable.
RJ45 connectors are used in "ethernet cables". These cables connect network devices between computers and systems.
UTP cables are available to purchase from a wide variety of retailers and stores. Wal-Mart and Target both carry UTP cables. Additionally, Best Buy, Frys, and Radio Shack also carry these cables. An individual may also find UTP cables at places like Amazon and eBay.
Characteristic impedance of cat 5e utp cables is 100 ohms.
A UTP coupler is a small block to which you can connect two UTP cables to form a longer one. Handy if you have 2 short cables but need a long one.
