The alt button location depends on which Kindle version you have. The original Kindle has a keyboard with the alt key located on the left near the space bar. The basic Kindle has neither. On the Kindle 4, the newest version, you will find the keyboard by pressing the keyboard button found at the bottom of the screen.
This is for the Kindle 3. On the bottom of your keyboard, there are six buttons: an arrow, Alt, a blank bar, Aa, Home, and Back. Press the Aa button and select the size of font you want from the ones that show up on the popup window.

The first thing to do is upload some mp3s on your Kindle. You do that using the USB cable that came with the Kindle. Transfer the music files into the "music" folder in your Kindle. While reading, simply press Alt + Spacebar to turn the player on and off. Use Alt + F to skip to the next track.
Plug your Kindle into the computer. Go to the start button in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Click on "my computer". Go to the Kindle button. On your computer find music and drag to the music folder. Then on your Kindle press the "menu" button and click "Sync & Check for items". It should work!
