The original was the Macintosh 128, released in 1984. It had a 9inch b/w screen and, as the name states 128 kB of memory. Soon after its release the 'fat-mac' was released (Autumn 1984, Spring 1985) with a staggering 512 kB of internal memory. Upgrades where available too. A few years later the Macintosh SE was released, but that's another story altogether.

Apple's first computer, released in 1976, was called the Apple Computer (See links below) and was basically a mother board to which you needed to add a keyboard and a screen (often a standard TV) and put the whole thing in a case of some kind. Apple's next computer was named the Apple II and so the original computer became known as the Apple I.
