Most patterns come with a legend that explains what symbols and abbreviations mean. The meaning of abbreviations may vary somewhat from one pattern to the next. However, if your pattern has no list of abbreviations or symbols, try using one of the tables linked below. Also be aware that the symbols and terminology varies from country to country. Most patterns begin at the bottom right edge. Be especially aware of this when knitting from a chart. If the chart is knit left-to-right and top-to-bottom instead of right-to-left and bottom-to-top, the design will appear upside down.
Title: Describes the subject of the chart. Axes: Represent the variables being measured, such as time or quantity. Legends: Explain the meaning of colors or symbols used in the chart. Data points: Represent individual values within the data set.
A stock symbol is an abbreviation, typically of up to four characters, which uniquely identifies a share which is traded on a stock exchange. A list of NYSE stock symbols can be found on the EODData website.
A list of symbols is typically referred to as a symbol list.
When you create a chart it can be embedded into the sheet where the data appears. You also have the option of setting the chart to be on a sheet tab of its own. This is a Chart Sheet.
