There are a number of softwares and programs that are used to detect the type of the motherboard. The CPU-Z software is the most commonly used software fr this purpose.
Use the software CPU-Z which is free. It will show you all required information.
Download cpu-z or it might have it somewhere in the bios.
Use PCWizard by CPUID. You can also use CPU-Z, also by CPUID.

The only reliable way to overclock your system is to change the settings in your computer's BIOS. The BIOS (sometimes referred to as UEFI) contains your PC's key settings. To access the BIOS, you must turn off your computer and turn it back on. As the computer restarts, press the DELETE, F2, or F10 key repeatedly.
It shows you the fps, your position (x, y, and z), and the CPU usage.

It depends on what you are using to overclock your CPU. If you use some kind of software, then it's reasonable because overclocking parameters are valid only when windows (or what ever you have) is running. Also new processors use so called speed stepping technology which allows cpus to change its multiplier and bus speed. When CPU is idling, for instance, when you are checking BIOS setting its decrease power consumption, when you start CPU-z it automatically increase the speed and multiplier.
