Codecs depend entirely on what type if file you are trying to play. An MP3 codec is no good, for instance, for playing WMA files, and an XVid codec is useless for playing Ogg Vorbis files.
This error indicates that the codec required to play the mp3 file is not supported by the player you are using. Try using a different media player that supports the mp3 codec, or try converting the file to a supported format. It's also possible that the mp3 file itself is corrupted.

Windows Media Player can play MP3's you should be able to drag and drop the mp3 file from where Limewire saves it into the media player or right click on the file(in the folder location where its stored; not in Limewire) and choose open with and then select Windows Media Player
