Windows is much less reliable. I think many people now realise that there are much better OSs than Windows BUT Windows is the most common so it is easy to find software, comes standard on a lot of new computers and there are a lot of people out there that can fix a Windows machine. I agree, Microsoft products have a poor record when one considers reliability important. Microsoft updates the Windows products regularly to provide more screen appeal but they haven't really done much to make it reliable. Everyone knows that Windows "hangs" and the only thing you can do is "reboot". One advantage to the Linux OS is that it is possible to trap individual errors in an application and the application won't cause the entire OS to crash.
Microsoft and Linux have no direct relationship. Microsoft has frequently attacked the reliability and cost effectiveness of Linux in order to promote their own Windows Server products. They do not release any software for Linux directly, but have made several "deals" with various commercial Linux vendors, such as Novell, Xandros, and Linspire, to license Windows media codecs.
Preemptive (both Windows and Linux).
Linux is considered to be more secure than Windows.
Two operating systems are; Windows, and Linux.
Vista Home Premium : Not Linux! Get linux! Vista Business : Not Linux! Get linux!
Linux has broad support for numerous sound cards and web cams. Relatively few are unsupported. In addition, some devices that were not originally intended to be used with either system, such as the PlayStation Eye, were supported on Linux first. When compared to any single version of Windows, Linux as a whole has far better device support, because Windows often drops support for legacy technologies, and if a manufacturer stops supporting a device, there won't be any drivers for newer versions of Windows. In contrast, the Linux kernel seldom discontinues support for any device and thus they can be used for as long as there is a way to interface them with your computer. If you have a PCI sound card from 1998, say a Creative Live! SoundBlaster 5.1, you can use the device just fine in Linux, but not in Windows Vista or Windows 7.
There is no such thing as "Windows Linux." Linux is not a version of Windows and has nothing at all to do with Windows. They are two totally completely different operating systems made by completely different people.
Windows is better for desktop computers. Linux is better for servers.
Windows, Linux, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, the list is huge!
Linux
There are no "joined" Linux and Windows operating systems, so there is no name for them.
Yes, install Windows first, then whichever distribution of Linux you want second.
