You don't need a product key to install the service pack; it will use the same product key you used when you installed Windows in the first place (you don't even need to know what this is; it happens automagically Behind the Scenes).
If you're installing the whole thing fresh from a CD, you should have gotten the product key on a sticker when you bought the OS. If you didn't, you were cheated (possibly you got a pre-installed OEM version; if so, contact your OEM for restore/reinstall disks).
If you're trying to get us to tell you a product key so you can illegally install a pirated version, sorry, we don't do that. It also probably won't work; by SP3, the "phone home" part of the installation was in place and won't allow a particular key to be used over and over indefinitely.
Why would you have the file from Windows 98 in your Xp? Make sure that you have Windows Xp, and also that you are installing the sp2 for xp.
The Windows XP SP2 update is an automatic update for Windows XP computers. It was designed to enhance support for WiFi networks , and replaces hotfix 893357.
A retail installation disc for Windows XP will typically require a product key to be answered. Discs supplied with a computer usually have one provided in an answer file and thus the user does not need to be prompted to enter one.
Product keys are not tied to specific CDs. As long as they are for the same version and are not blacklisted, any Windows XP product key can be used with any CD.
No.
If your computer had Windows XP on it and you upgraded to Vista, I heard you could call Microsoft and tell them how displeased you were with Vista and wish to downgrade back to XP. They will then deactivate your Vista Product Key and give you a XP product key, you will also have to have a Windows XP cd.
No, you cannot. Xp installation CDs don't have product keys imbeded.

Not directly no, the "upgrade" CD requires a different key than what is on your laptop (an OEM key), not to mention it will require a previous version of Windows to process the upgrade.
Yes.
No
