A magnetic disk is a disk which stores information magnetically, and is read/written with a small magnetic head (e.g. a hard disk)
An optical disk is a disk which stores information optically, usually as a series of pits and peaks, and is read/writ
Magnetic Storage
a) Stores data in magnetic form & it doesn't use laser to read/write data
b) It is affected by magnetic field.
c) It has high storage capacity.
d) Data accessing is high as compared to CD's and DVD's.
e) Magnetic storage devices are ; Hard disk , Floppy
disk, Magnetic tape etc.
Optical Storage
a) Stores data optically & uses laser to read/write.
b) It is not affected by magnetic field.
c) It has less storage than hard disk.
d) Data accessing is high as compared to floppy.
e) Optical storage devices are ; CD-ROM,CD-R,
CD-RW, DVD etc.
magnetic tapes are cheaper

The difference between optical and non optical is the way the drive in the DVD reads the disk. Optical is a better and more higher quality reader. So the picture is much better.
A compact disk (CD) is an optical storage device.
(a)- it is a read-only storage medium. Data once recorded, cannot be erased, and hence the optical disk cannot be reused. (b)- thd data access speed for optical disk is slower than magnetic disks; (c)- optical disk require a more complicated drive mechanism that magnetic disk.
Head – The device that reads and writes the information—magnetic or optical—on the disk surface.
Magnetic storage is used on hard drives and floppy disks. Sectors of the disk are charged magnetically and are easily changed later. Optical storage uses a laser to read data. On a cd/dvd, the laser picks up tiny marks made starting in the center and rotating outward.
disk derive
Yes both are secondary storage devices. Primary storage devices include RAM & ROM. Secondary storage devices include magnetic disks like hard disks and cds(optical disks)
The difference between a drive and disk is that a drive is used to read a disk whether it be a floppy disk or a compact disk.
David Gregg was the inventor of the optical disk.
No. Floppy disks are magnetic media that rely on magnetic polarization to write data to the disk much like a hard drive. Unlike CD media they can be erased by a strong magnet field that effectively scrambles the data tracks.
